What is the difference between curly and coily hair?
Many of us confuse curly hair and coily hair. However, these two textures, as close as they are, are not identical and especially do not have the same needs. We explain it all to you:
Curly hair: large and flexible springs
A curly hair will take the shape of a more or less large spring and will be more flexible than a coily hair. When wet, curly hair can stretch to be almost straight but will curl again when styling products are applied and during drying. Scrunching curly hair is therefore highly recommended for better definition.
In terms of treatment, curly hair will tend to require more moisture than curly hair to keep it soft and supple. The Repair Time treatment is the best ally for curly hair, but a monthly nourishing treatment with the Serum Croissance will also help prevent breakage.
Coily hair: tight, bouncy corkscrews
Following the same logic as curly hair, coily hair takes on a springy shape but tighter and wraps around itself more. It is therefore drier and more brittle than curly hair. Moreover, the many turns of coily hair prevent sebum from flowing along the hair fiber, making it naturally less moisturized.
Coily hair therefore needs a lot of moisture and nutrition to keep it supple and strong! That's why the Smoothie* is curly hair's best friend: it provides hydration with aloe vera and nutrition with vegetable oils and mango butter. For even softer curls, pair it with the Boost Curl daily if needed.
The tip of the team Les Secrets de Loly
It often happens that we have 2 textures on our head. In this case, it is preferable to use the lighter routine to avoid overdosing your hair and to use deep care. In the case of double curly/coily texture, favor the curly hair routine with one treatment per week alternating between moisturizing and nourishing.
**Of the three Smoothie scents, only the Smoothie Ananas is suitable for children and pregnant and nursing women because it contains no essential oils.
